Rare French Antique Religious Crucifixion of Christ c 1915
This is an exquisite example of religious art at its finest.
It is in very good condition for a cross which would have been hanging on the outside of an old French home for around 100 years.
The wood at the top of the cross is split, but this should not be a problem for hanging it.
Colours are almost as shown in pictures.
The wooden cross is a very well weathered creamy colour, whilst the cast of Jesus is quite dark and weathered.
This piece is circa 1900-1915.The cross is made of painted wood and figure of Christ is a rather heavy cast metal (possibly bronze).
Wear and discolouration are commensurate with age.I do not clean antiques as most collectors prefer an "as is" condition.
Approximate measurements:
Cross: 2 1/2" Tall x 6 3/4" Wide x 3/8" thick wood
Casting of Christ: 6" tall adding another inch of depth to the cross.
