THIS IS AN AMERICAN SILVER JULEP CUP

from the workshop of Mark J. Scearce, co-founder of Wakefield-Scearce Galleries of Shelbyville Kentucky. He crafted a limited amount during the term of each president. This one is marked sterling and the base of this julep cup is stamped with an American eagle and RMN II. This means that the cup was made during the second term of the USA President Richard Milhouse Nixon. Beading along the rim and base 3 3/4''h., 3'' dia. 4.59 oz.

It is in excellent condition!!!!

***Mint Julep: (Bourbon whiskey served over crushed, or shaved ice. Standard garnish: mint leaves)

Standard drinkware: tall glass, or julep cup.

Commonly used ingredients: 3 oz. Bourbon whiskey, 4 to 6 sprigs mint leaves & sugar syrup, to taste (c. 1 oz)

Preparation: Put Bourbon whiskey, mint, and sugar syrup into the bottom of a tall glass, or julep cup. Let stand for a bit to help release the mint flavor. Add crushed, or shaved, ice, and stir well to chill and mix the libation.
